Natural Resources Canada Announces $2 Million in Funding For Geothermal Exploration in Yukon

On March 4, 2021, the Honourable Larry Bagnell, Member of Parliament for Yukon, on behalf of the Honourable Seamus O’Regan Jr., Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, today announced $2 million in funding for the Government of Yukon to explore the potential of geothermal energy as a long-term source of renewable energy for communities currently powered by diesel.

No. 1 Geothermal LP Announces Collaboration with Akita Drilling for Alberta No. 1 Exploration Well

February 24, 2021 (Edmonton, AB) – No. 1 Geothermal Limited Partnership has entered into an agreement with Akita Drilling to be the drilling provider for the exploration well of its geothermal project, Alberta No. 1. With Akita’s extensive drilling expertise in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, this collaboration continues to drive the Alberta No. 1 geothermal project forward.

“We have always stewarded Alberta No. 1 as a geothermal project ‘built in Alberta by Albertans,’” says Dr. Catherine Hickson, CEO of Alberta No. 1. “We are excited to work with an Albertan company with world-class expertise as we deliver the next chapter of the Province’s energy story.”

Eavor Technologies Inc. Secures USD$40 Million Investments From Chevron and Others

On Feb. 16, 2021, Eavor Technologies Inc. announced the completion of a USD $40million (CAD$50.7 million) funding round. Investors in this round include: bp Ventures, Chevron Technology Ventures, Temasek, BDC Capital, Eversource and Vickers Venture Partners. These investments will support the commercialization and scaling of Eavor’s unique technology. The announcement by Eavor is shown below.

Growing Geothermal Industrial Opportunities: Recording Available

On Feb. 11, 2021, Terrapin Geothermics hosted a webinar with Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC), and the recording is now available.
