Q&A: How geothermal energy can help Canada reach net zero
12 PM -1 PM ET | Sept 12, 2026 | Live Online

Montreal is having its first-ever climate week, and the Cascade Institute's Geothermal Energy Office will be hosting an online Q&A with geothermal energy expert Emily Smejkal

In this session, we'll take questions from the audience on anything they want to ask about geothermal, including how it can be used for both industrial and residential purposes, the new technologies that make accessing the energy easier, and where in Canada has the greatest potential for geothermal energy.

Come join us for this virtual session! It's free of charge, and open to all.

Supercharging Geothermal Power Economics by Applying Lessons Learned from the Unconventional Oil & Gas Revolution
10 -11 AM CT | Sept 24, 2026 | Online

🔥 Geothermal is about to have its shale moment. 🔥

⚡ Well costs are dropping. Flow-rate records are falling. 1+ GW of new geothermal capacity is coming online before 2030.

🎙️ Speaker Greg Leveille, former ConocoPhillips CTO, helped lead the shale revolution in the Eagle Ford & Bakken. Now he's bringing those hard-won lessons to geothermal - including why big enough "levers" make the impossible possible, and why speed of adoption beats the breakthrough itself.

GHE Analysis: Polytechnique Montreal has launched a new software to design geothermal heat pump systems

It is called GHE Analysis and developed and distributed by P3 Geothermal, a spin-off company from Polytechnique Montreal, Canada.

Academic (free) and commercial licenses are available. The program can be used to design ground source heat pump systems of all kinds. It includes interesting features that other similar software does not offer like TRT analysis and standing column well design.

SURVEY REQUEST: Stakeholder Perceptions and Opinions about Geothermal Energy in Industry
EU-funded project with GeoS-TECHIS, Fraunhofer IAO and the IAT University of Stuttgart

As part of the EU-funded project GeoS-TECHISFraunhofer IAO and the IAT University of Stuttgart, are conducting a survey on the acceptance and perception of geothermal energy in industry.
The goal of the survey is to better understand the views, needs, and expectations of key stakeholders and to use these insights to develop policy recommendations, communication strategies, and educational materials that support the transition towards climate-neutral industrial energy systems.
The online survey is anonymous; takes about 15 minutes to complete.
