Featuring talks from leading energy research experts Dr. Brad Hayes and Dr. Catherine Hickson, the one-hour webinar will focus on research into understanding and mitigating seismicity and water impacts from natural gas development, on BC’s carbon capture and storage potential, and on geothermal energy potential throughout the province. 

This session dives into how geosciences are powering the energy transition — specifically through their critical role in geothermal project success. From de-risking early-stage capital to ensuring long-term reservoir sustainability, the talk draws on real-world project experience in Italy and beyond to show how geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and numerical modelling come together in practice.

It is called GHE Analysis and developed and distributed by P3 Geothermal, a spin-off company from Polytechnique Montreal, Canada.

Academic (free) and commercial licenses are available. The program can be used to design ground source heat pump systems of all kinds. It includes interesting features that other similar software does not offer like TRT analysis and standing column well design.

As part of the EU-funded project GeoS-TECHIS, Fraunhofer IAO and the IAT University of Stuttgart, are conducting a survey on the acceptance and perception of geothermal energy in industry.
The goal of the survey is to better understand the views, needs, and expectations of key stakeholders and to use these insights to develop policy recommendations, communication strategies, and educational materials that support the transition towards climate-neutral industrial energy systems.
The online survey is anonymous; takes about 15 minutes to complete.
