To Our Valued Members, Geothermal Enthusiasts, and All Website Visitors,

Thank you for your support and participation in Geothermal Canada. Having a strong and supportive membership is critical to advancing science and promoting geothermal research and development in Canada.

2023 was another strong year for geothermal energy development in our country. Numerous projects including Tu Deh Kah, DEEP, Alberta No.1, Eavor, Meager Creek, and Swan Hills saw further investment, geoscience, drilling of wells, and building of infrastructure. What’s more, a new project was announced for Rainbow Lake, Alberta. Canadian companies are also making huge strides in advancing their overseas projects. Eavor in particular saw a huge influx of investment dollars from various sources such as the European Commission Innovation Fund, and reached a key milestone on their project in Geretsried, Germany. 4th Resource signed a MOU with the government of Ethiopia for their Harmokale project.

Geothermal Canada highlights for the past year include:

  • participation and co-hosting of talks and collaborative sessions during GeoConvention, Geothermal Rising, and Pivot2023,

  • awarding of 2 student scholarships, as well as 2 best-talks awards,

  • continuation of bi-weekly live lecture webinar series, available to the public, and freely available to members (also recorded and saved for member on-demand viewing),

  • continuing to create educational, informative content, hosted on the website,

  • transitioning to a new website membership system for greater security and improved member experience.

Geothermal Canada members enjoy several benefits including:

  • attendance and participation in online webinar lectures for free,

  • free access to all recorded webinars on demand in the members’ section of our website,

  • rock mechanics full course freely available for on-demand viewing,

  • industry updates, announcements, and business opportunities through our site news feed,

  • associate membership in the IGA (International Geothermal Association),

  • as a corporate or organization member, your logo displayed on our website, and posting of news releases and updates through our platform.

We will continue our news feed to keep the community informed and up to date on happenings in Canadian geothermal energy development.

Improvements we have planned for our organization in 2024 include:

  • revamped website, including aesthetic improvements, and a new catalogue for easy content browsing,

  • enhanced social media presence,

  • a new membership system to secure member content and improve website experience for our members,

  • hosting a special 50th anniversary geothermal session at GeoConvention,

  • discussions and updates to geothermal reporting codes and engagement with government and industry stakeholders,

  • promoting informational geothermal content by including it in our catalogue.

In addition to all of this, we invite engagement from the community and especially you, our members. How can we build a thriving geothermal community and profitable business environment in Canada? We can only do it by working together. We invite ideas and participation from the membership to grow our presence and enhance the offerings of our organization.

With all of this in mind, please consider joining us for what’s shaping up to be a very important 2024 in the world of geothermal:

  • For those new to Geothermal Canada or haven’t bought a membership before, we welcome you with open arms! Join our thriving community today and become a valued contributor to geothermal research and development.

Your membership purchase will grant you access and all member benefits immediately, and last until January 1, 2025, so consider purchasing your membership today to maximize its value.

Please be aware that we have recently changed our membership system. Upon purchasing your membership renewal, you will be provided with a document containing instructions on how to activate your membership. It is a very simple process that only takes a minute to complete. Once done, you will have full access to the members' area and all benefits. If you've bought a corporate/organization membership and would like us to display your logo and company description on our website, please contact us.

With a corporate or organization membership purchase, we can allow for separate accounts to be created for up to 5 of your employees. If you are interested in this, please reply to this email and we will provide further details.
