The Tu Netset Geothermal Project (formerly the Lower Post GeoHEAT Project), is located on the Alaska Highway, approximately 23 kilometers south-east of Watson Lake, Yukon Territory.
Barkley Project Group supports the Daylu Dene Council by providing project management and technical expertise. In collaboration with Paycore Drilling, they successfully drilled 27 shallow, 2 to 3m holes to investigate hidden thermal expressions in the area. This important step helps pave the way for geothermal exploration in the region and was funded through NRCan’s SREP program.
The Project goals are to:
•Increase capacity and provide meaningful employment opportunities for the Nation and the Kaska Dena.
•Explore for geothermal resources near Lower Post to provide a source of renewable energy.
•Collect key data to understand resource type, distribution, and characteristics of the geothermal resource.
Stay tuned for exciting results from this study.
