On November 2, 2020, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and Minister of Environment and Parks, Jason Nixon, announced a commitment of up to $280 million to fund three Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) programs. The goal of the funding is to support innovative projects for small, medium, and large industries across all sectors in Alberta, while supporting around 5000 jobs and cutting an estimated 13 millions tonnes of emissions by 2030.
The funding will come from the TIER system (up to $180 million) and LCELF (up to $100 million). The three programs include the Shovel-Ready Challenge, Energy Savings for Business Program, and the Partnership Intake Program.
