Eavor Yukon Partners with Carmacks Development Corporation
On Jan. 29, 2020, Eavor Yukon (Eavor) and the Carmacks Development Corporation (CDC) announced a partnership to deliver green baseload energy for the Yukon using a new technology (Eavor-Loop) that was proven last year in a field scale pilot. Eavor and CDC signed an agreement to solidify this partnership.
Eavor Shortlisted for European Geothermal Innovation Award
The European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) has announcde the five endorsed nominations for the Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award 2020. One of the nominees isGeothermal Canada member Eavor GMBH, which aims to capture geothermal energy to produce steady and dependable heat and electrical power without emissions of any kind.
“We see a continuous trend in the geothermal sector towards increased efficiency, reduction of costs, and increased attention to socio-economic local benefits,” said Philippe Dumas, EGEC Secretary General. “We are glad that the award is reflecting that. It is important to continue to support this constant improvement both at European and national level in order to keep Europe’s leadership in Research & Innovation.”
Eavor Announces Completion of Pilot Project
Eavor is pleased to announce the full completion and 3rd party validation of the Eavor-Lite™ demonstration project near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Eavor’s technology, known as “Eavor-Loop™” captures geothermal energy to produce steady and dependable heat and electrical power without emissions of any kind. Unlike traditional geothermal power plants, an Eavor-Loop™ works at drilling depths which have geologically common parameters and characteristics; enabling implementation almost anywhere in the world. This technology represents the opportunity to transform the world’s energy stack, redefine how energy is produced and address climate change.
Waterloo Geothermal Workshop Agenda & Questions for Discussion
On Friday AM, January 24, interested persons will meet in Federation Hall at the University of Waterloo to discuss and debate issues related to geothermal energy. Here, we pose questions for consideration during this discussion. The questions DO NOT pertain to high temperature geothermal sources (confined to BC, YK), but to lower-grade geothermal energy at depth, perhaps combined with seasonal heat storage, shallow heat-pump systems. You are encouraged to formulate your own questions for clarity.

Leapfrog Geothermal Courses, April 24-25, Reykjavik
If you are attending WGC 2020 and/or live in Iceland, don’t miss the Leapfrog Geothermal courses held from April 24-25, 2020 just before the conference.
Seequent will hold both a Leapfrog Geothermal Fundamentals Course and a Leapfrog Advanced Course.
The fundamentals course is for entry-level users of Leapfrog Geothermal and covers the basics of modelling from well data, geologic maps, and cross-sections plus geophysics and reservoir simulation integration.
The advanced course will take you beyond the modelling basics and further your knowledge of geological modelling and surface editing techniques, allowing you to have full control over your Leapfrog surfaces and volumes as well as your well data. It will also teach the skills required to critically analyse data to effectively build 3D models.
For those in California, there fundamentals course will also be held in Menlo Park from Feb. 13-14, 2020.
Both courses are $1000USD per person, USD $500 for students.
